Hello and welcome to your D&D group! I hope we'll all be good friends. :)

Group One (y'all can pick a team name if you like) is the group that will be signing up thinking that they are signing up to help with an actual adventure. If you think you should not be here, please see me after class and we'll take a look at your registration. (No, but seriously. Let me know.)

I am trying to set up a time/day that will work for everyone as a start time. My hope is that we can get in one good session where everyone is around to start it up and then maybe find a semi-consistent time to meet to finish things up?

Looking at time zones/availabilities, it seems like 1:00am GMT would work as a good starting time?

With that in mind, comment here with what days work for you at that time. Or, if that time will not work for you at all, let me know that too! If we can find a mutually agreeable time within the next week, that would be awesome, but if not, I'm sure we'll work something out.

On the to pre-fab or not to pre-fab, the count I have is thus (let me know if this should change):
Pre-Fabs: Floki
Rolling your own: Thor, Steve, Bastion, Tavi

If you said that you didn't care either way, I've put you under rolling your own.

And to re-clarify: George will be bringing pre-fabs for everyone. If your pup already has a character ready to go when the game starts, awesome! Otherwise, George will give them one. You as a mun are welcome to either roll your pup's character or have me do it.

If you want me to pre-fab something for you but you have thoughts on things like race/class/etc., let me know, and I'll work from there.

I'm hoping to keep planning things here so we don't spam up the back room too much. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask them here or PM me.

The third thread is for the actual game. Assume by that point George has given your character their sheet and let them think on background a little. I figure posting order will just be first come, first served until everyone has commented and that will be the order. If that makes sense. :)

Just repeating for this group: I'm available mostly in the afternoons and evenings EST, so just name a date and time and I'll be there. For that first session, any evening would be good.

Any character that's NOT a Fighter/barbarian/orc type would be perfect. I don't think he'd mind being a cleric, but he'll have to learn that it's not blasphemous even with Thor sitting right there.

1) Glad to be here!
2) Not Saturdays, I already have a game then. Wednesdays are not reliably available either. The suggested time is fine, though.
3) I can do it myself for 5e. I don't have a specific vision for what kind of character Bastion should play, and they'll be picking almost totally at random ICly, so I was thinking I'd wait and see what everyone else wants to do and plug any resulting holes in the party composition. (Having said that: I don't really want to play a cleric or a barbarian, and the only classes I've tried before are arcane spellcasters.)
4) Just to get it established, this is a D&D 5e game, right? Can we play stuff outside of the online Basic Rules, since there's only four classes and four races in that and my favourites (nothing esoteric, just, like... sorcerers, rangers, druids, tieflings, that sort of thing) are largely not included?

It is a 5e game, and you can play stuff from wherever you find it. I was starting with the Basic Rules, but I've been using this site's character generator for the pre-fabs. I've had to add in backgrounds but otherwise it's been great.

OK I have a more specific idea now; I want to be either a druid or a ranger, and either a half-orc or a tiefling. Haven't decided which yet.

It's not finished - I'll keep updating it - but here's a link to the sheet. The character will have a name, some traits, and at least one bond and flaw soon; the gender is unspecified-with-singular-they-pronouns because I like the idea that the player was meant to choose a gender and Bastion just left it like that.

augh, it tampered with the colours on the image. The character's supposed to have a redder skin tone than that.

edit: Now it's finished! I think I filled it out correctly.

2) Pretty much any afternoon EST! Also many evenings, and I can generally go late nights too, though I don't know if that's true for the rest of the group.

This weekend and next aren't great because I have a visitor this weekend and am traveling next weekend, so I can commit to sporadic tags but not to a long stretch of play.

3) Upon reflection, could I get a pre-fab one after all? I don't mind doing tweaks on it if that would be helpful! But I think it would be useful to have at least a start on it, since I've played various tabletop things but I'd have to brush up on D&D proper for character generation.

I'm good with whatever, which is an unhelpful answer but true! I could see a few different hilarious modes: either giving Thor a meatwall tank of a fighter (and have him still keep trying to have the fighter do what he would do and fail because this fighter is not in fact Thor), or giving Thor a paladin (he understands being worshipped, but I think he fundamentally does not quite grok being the one doing the worshipping, and also it would feel extra awkward with Floki right there), orrrrr giving Thor some kind of low-Constitution wizard where he has to, like, keep track of spells and consistently remember that they shouldn't go hand-to-hand with an ogre and stuff. So... whichever of those options is looking like it'd work best with the party balance?

Just to check: do you mean 1:00 am GMT on technically-it's-just-become-Thursday, or 1:00 am on technically-it's-just-become-Friday?
